Terms of use
The terms for using mtools. By using the site, you accept them.
Last updated: 23 October 2026
The service
mtools is a free collection of developer tools run by Richard Lucker. The tools run in your browser; how your information is handled is set out in the privacy notice. The site may change, and tools may be added or removed, at any time.
Check results before you rely on them
The tools are tested carefully, but they are provided "as is", without any promise that they are free of errors or suitable for a particular purpose. Check anything important, such as a hash, a decoded token or a colour conversion, before relying on it. A JWT Decoder result in particular is not proof that a token is genuine unless its signature has been verified.
Liability
As the site is free and offered as is, Richard Lucker is not liable for any loss or damage arising from its use, including loss of data, profit or business, as far as the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Using the site
You may use the tools for any lawful purpose, personal or commercial. Please do not try to disrupt the site, for example by attacking the server or sending it automated requests in large volumes.
Your content
What you put into the tools never reaches this site, so it remains entirely yours. Output the tools produce for you is yours to use as you wish.
The site's own content
The site's design, text and code are © Richard Lucker. The site includes open source software, listed with its licences on the third-party notices page; those licences apply to that software.
Links
Links to other websites are provided for information. Those sites are not controlled by mtools, which is not responsible for them.
Changes and law
These terms may be updated; the date above shows when. They are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Questions: see the contact page.
